And in most cases they would stay that way, if if the lawmakers would stay out of it. We just had an incident up here where a young mountain lion was curious about a jogger out in the woods. The guy finally threw his backpack at it and it fled. There were some who wanted it shot right away, but the Park Service closed the area to people instead. (good idea IMO) 
Damn city folk intrude into the mountain lions territory, and when it looks at them they want it killed. They should feel lucky to have seen one.</description>
