22-Year-Old Man Florida’s 13th Fatality From Swine Flu

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — A 22-year-old man in Sarasota is Florida’s 13th fatal case of the swine flu.

Health officials wouldn’t say how or when the man died, but Dr. William Heymann, Medical Executive Director of the Sarasota County Health Department, called it a “tragic and sobering reminder that influenza is serious.”

Statewide, more than 2,100 have been sickened since the outbreak emerged.

SAN DIEGO — The total number of people who have died of swine flu in California is up to 55, an increase of 23 over the past week, state health officials said Thursday as they warned of more serious cases on the way.

Yeah, they’ve doubled here over the last week, too. Strange.
