And Now For Something Completely Different

Oh, dear. N2l complained about traditional Samoan dancing and I realized that I hadn’t actually put up any videos about traditional Samoan dancing, unless you want to count Thriller and Greased Lightning. So, here ya go.

Ooooh, more traditional dancing! (grin)

I’ve just about had it with these Samoan dances.
There is a high school in this area, Euless Trinity, which has the #1 high school football team in the nation. In the past ten years, they’ve only lost a few games and they always get lots of attention because they are mostly Samoan and they do the a dance some call the Haka and others call it the Sepi Tau. In any event, this dance is performed before every game. They used to do it facing their opponent, but the UIL said it was taunting, so they do it facing their fans.
Personally, I think it is silly. They aren’t going to war, it’s a football game. If I were their opponent, I would do the Cotton-Eyed Joe in response. It reminds me of a South Park episode.

The Haka is from NZ – the All Blacks team do it before every game…
